The area around Gehlberg is the second famous site in Thuringia. This specimen is from the sub-location 'Brand'. Only rough cut.

Felsenschlag

The most famous sub-location of the Gehlberg area is the one called Felsenschlag. There are a lot of nice eggs coming from this location and most have cracks. So that's common.

The one on the right has a floater in amethyst, waterlevel-agate with a slightly kipped leveling, surrounded by fortification agate. Flaweless banding.

An egg from a new hole at the famous Felsenschlag. The agate is a bit darker as usual. Typical for the new spot. The material is also known as "Langer Rain".

Hölle

This new source in the Gehlberg area is called 'Hölle' (hell). It's at the lopes og the famous Schneekopf Mt.

 

Hell is frozen! Nice light blueish-white agate core.

Schmücke

One of the newer sub-locations is called Schmücke or Güldene Brücke. But the location is located in a NSG near the famous same-called restaurant. So the eggs seems to be a little bit of illegally dug.

 

This egg has the typical agate filling and matrix for that sub-location.

One from the area aroung Gehlberg. Somtimes tagged as Schneekopf, but that's no real location. Fine amethyst and a cluster of calcite xx in a cracked geode - beautiful.
